Many people specualted there would be a new God of War game coming. The specualtion was fueled by rumors that kept on piling up to make it seem that it would be God of War IV. When Sony's official Playstation Facebook page posted a teaser photo. Than the South African retailer BT Games which have been known reveal upcoming games and info like the Jak and Daxter: HD Collection and Mass Effects 3's Multiplayer component also put up some pre-order boxes on display which added evidence for the game. Now Sony has finally revealed what the new game is and people have been partially right. This is a new God of War game, but not God Of War IV as previously presumed.
This new game is called God of War: Ascension, with the use of Ascension in the title we can asume the game takes place during the period of Kratos life where he Ascended to become the Ghost of Sparta. The reason it couldn't have been him ascending to becoming the God of War because it happened during the first God of War. The trailer later confirms this notion as it states before he was blinded by rage,before he became the Ghost of Sparta, and before the time he broke the blood oath of an unjust God which relates to Ares tricking Kratos into killing his wife and daughter. Thus meaning the game will act as a prequel to the series, however we do not know how the game itself will play out as the time period that many believe the game to take place may actually be when Kratos didn't have his powers from Ares. This will affect the way the gameplay will be, some speculate the game could be in a different Genre like a Strategy game where we control Kratos as the General of the Spartan Army or a shooter if the boxes from BT games are correct.
Sony will most likely show off the proper reveal at E3 or before. The proper reveal will shed some light on what time period does it exactly take place in the God of War Franchise and how the gameplay will be. So stay tuned to N00bpwner for more info of the game arrives.
